I moved to Tulsa, OK, in mid-March — just before the COVID-19 shutdown — from Barbados and New York after being accepted into the Tulsa Remote Program. It was an extraordinary time to be moving halfway across the country to a place I’d only visited once and the surreality of it all launched the Fugitive Ecologies series of collages, which I shared on Instagram as I conceived them. Here is an interview that I did in early May 2020 with Dr. Marsha Pearce, a Trinidadian cultural theorist who has a strong interest in the visual arts. In it I discuss my move, mood, and inspirations and aspirations.
